Events & Activities
Donna and I took a group of vollies down to Bunya Crossing for a B B Q The main purpose of the excursion was to show our vollies the amazing work that Jann and the river warriors have accomplished using the plants grown with our own fair hands, Jann and her crew have used 107 thousand plants to re-vegetate the area behind the nursery and along the South Pine River .
Our volunteers were very impressed with the work accomplished and appreciated the time Jann took to talk them through the various stages of the project. For Donna and myself it was a chance to give the crew a nice morning tea and lunch and have a good catch up with everybody. It was good to show where our plants end up and to stress the importance of the work being done here in the nursery and to show our volunteers how much we value them .
If you were not able to make it on the day do not despair we shall be doing more of the same. We hope to be using the sanctuary much more in the future for seed collection and training purposes, just as a by the way whilst down on the river we found seed that we have not had in the nursery before and ear marked at least two species ready or near ready for collection, so don't be surprised if you come in and your task for the day is seed collection
The work in the nursery is slowing down somewhat with the cold weather but don't be afraid to come in, we will always find something for you to do even if it is book club (Wednesday we are watching you)
Thursday(we are aware of what you are getting up to whilst perusing your favorite shopping venue)
Friday (multicultural problem solving)
Saturday (we know its about the weeds)
Tuesday (could you at least pretend you need us, Jack and Jills of all trades )
Mondays there seems to be a cone of silence surrounding it. Whatever your day or talent your work is very very much appreciated Thanks the crew at the nursery
Lowlands Festival Held Sunday 29 August 2010
The Lowlands Festival held at Osprey House Environmental Centre was a great success with more than 2,000 people enjoying the activities on site.
